Spring Has Arrived

It is a glorious sunny day today and so I took the opportunity to take photographs of the garden.
Soon we will be able to take photos of the new Laurel and Hardy statue being erected in a revamped County Square of Ulverston. Apart from the statue, engraved into slate flagstones are all the films the couple made. I f you don't know already, Stan Laurel was born in Ulverston. There is a small museum dedicated to their film antics and a pub named after this town's famous son. I doubt Stan ever thought of such fame when he lived in Ulverston. Other famous people lived in Ulverston, including Sir John Barrow, but tourists would have to climb Hoad Hill to have their photo taken beside his monument — it is built in the shape of Eddystone lighthouse, appropriate for a man of Naval history.

  1. Again we are treated to the million dollar (and I'm not talking Zimbabwe $ either!) views from your garden. Did you plant those daffodils Gladys? 'A daffodil?' Wasn't there an old British hospital comedy sketch somewhere intimating the use of said botanical wonder being used to check body temperature through the back passage?

Be all that as it may, what a beautiful header photo you've used for this website. It's uncanny, because I feel like a lamb living with my Canis lupus missus.

  2. Ah Payton, what a memory! I think it was Carry On Nurse, but the NHS has improved since then — they have modern equipment and do not have to rely on Natural Organic products for temperature taking. It was found to be erratic — some species wilted quicker than others when subjected to body heat.
And I do not believe you are lamb living with a wolf — Lady Inky is a fine lady and certainly not covered in all that long body hair! As to whether you are a lamb — mm...

  4. Hi Gladys. I got handed an award by a blog I'd been following, and I'm meant to pass it on to some other favorite bloggers. I hope you won't mind if I list yours as one of my favorite sites, but I always love your pictures.
